Finding Your Power Voice in MIdlife
Friday Jun 23, 2023
Friday Jun 23, 2023
This is one of my favourite podcast conversations . My guest is Alica Dara who is a nationally recognized speech and presentation coach who helps women (and men) CEO’s, Global VPs, and Executive Directors find their Power Voice and use it to excel in their life and careers. She is also the founder and editor in chief of Womancake Magazine which delivers slices of wisdom along wildly inspiring essays, interviews, articles, visual art, and poetry by women over age 40.
This episode is about the importance of finding our voice in midlife to speak our truth as key to living our authentic next chapter.
We delve into how many of us in our generation were taught to silence our voices to “play nice” and how that has kept us disconnected from not only our voices but ourselves.
We also talk about power of the collective of midlife womens voices to challenge ageism, sexism and the patriarchy.
This is a lively conversation that we are both obviously very passionate about.

Trusting the Unkown
Thursday Jun 01, 2023
Thursday Jun 01, 2023
This weeks episode is another ridiculously inspiring midlife reinvention story. After Covid turned her life upside down my guest Michelle Fishburne was left with no home, no job, no kids. The only thing she did have was an RV so she packed up her belongings and hit the road. With no idea where she was going or where life was taking her next Michelle faced forward, leaned into her natural curiosity and trusted the unfolding of events happening before her. Along the way she began talking to people she met about what they had lost and found during covid which lead her to become an accidental author of a book called “Who We Are Now: Stories of What Americans Lost and Found During the COVID-19 Pandemic”. Michelle continues to be a full-time nomad, living and working in her motorhome, Airbnb’s, and the occasional house-sitting gig.
What is so inspiring about this story was Michelles unwavering trust in the unknown as she navigated what most of us would consider a very challenging set of circumstances. There are so any quotes, stories and anecdotes in this conversation that we can all learn so much from. I know I did.

When we’re busy with the duties of motherhood we don’t often take time to think about how we are living our lives and the lessons and legacies that we are leaving for our children. We’re doing what we are doing to be the best moms we can be, yet important lessons are being handed down that impact our children more than we realize.
Todays guest is Ana Tajder, award winning journalist, author and host of the multi award winning podcast Thank you Mama. She shares the insights she has learned from interviewing hundred of mothers world wide. We talk about the importance of generational legacies and how the lessons handed down to us from our mothers and grandmothers have impacted the ways we live and parent today.
It’s such a beautiful conversation on the importance of our roles of mothers that we might not have previously considered.

Grief: The Dance of Self Discovery
Thursday Apr 06, 2023
Thursday Apr 06, 2023
This weeks conversation is about grief. But grief in a context that you might not have considered before - as an opening to self discovery.
This time of our lives is decidedly one of many endings - kids leaving home, careers changing, divorce, the end of our reproductive years, changes in our and bodies - and although we might not associate all of these things with grief they are all endings that deserve acknowledgment.
My guest today is Edy Nathan, psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, speaker and author of the book "Its Grief, The Dance of Self Discovery Through Trauma and Loss". As an expert on grief she believes that everyone experiences grief throughout their lives; That it’s not just about the death of a loved one, but rather all the losses we experience along the path of life. Edy teaches us hoe to dance with grief and to get to know it as a way to know your most authentic self.
This is a beautiful conversation about how to open the portal to self discovery through endings. Such an important topic as we move into this next chapter of life.

Corporate Executive to Documentary Film Maker at 65
Sunday Jan 22, 2023
Sunday Jan 22, 2023
This weeks episode is an inspiring reinvention story about following your passion at any age. My guest Melissa Davey left her comfortable corporate position at the age 65 to become a documentary filmmaker. She had always had an interest in film but had no experience in the film industry before she set out this journey. Her first film Beyond 60 @beyond60 was released at the film festivals last year documenting the lives, lessons and experiences of 8 women over the age of 60. Such incredibly poignant stories and insights. I actually watched the film twice. Highly recommend it.
Now at the age of 72 Melissa is about to release her second film Climbing into Life @climbingintolife. In this episode Melissa and I talk about what made her take the leap, how she navigated the unknown, what kept her going when things got hard as well her insights and advice for other women who may be sitting on the fence of a long held dream.
This might be one my most favourite conversations yet. Melissa is a true badass and left me feeling beyond inspired to keeping chasing dreams and stepping out of my comfort zone. I cant wait for you all to hear this one.
